Case Profiles #4
Tyriek Keyes
July 16th, 2017, proved to be one of the absolute worst days of Demethra Telford’s life. A little after 9:30pm, her 14-year-old son Tyriek Keyes was shot several times while walking down the street in Newhallville, Connecticut. After spending four days in the hospital, surrounded by family who were fighting for him, Tyriek died of his injuries. To this day, investigation has led to no answers in the senseless murder. Tyriek was just about to start high school and was looking forward to trying out for the football and basketball teams. He also loved to dance and was apart of a group called Ice The Beef, where he and his friends did dancing skits with important messages. Most of all, Tyriek was well-loved in his community, and dreamed of someday making enough money to buy his mom a nice house in Chicago. Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call detectives at 203-946-6304 or call the New Haven police anonymous tips line at 203-946-6296.
John Frazier
On Monday, January 18th of 2010 in Waterbury, Connecticut, Nelly Robinson heard screaming outside of her home and ran to the second story window to see two men chasing her son through the parking lot in front of the house. 17-year-old John Frazier, nicknamed Jon Jon, was then shot. John (pictured in the center of his two brothers) was an incredible athlete and an aspiring electrician. He seemed to have been targeted for a street robbery at random on his walk home from his 17th birthday party, as devastatingly his birthday was that same day. 27-year-old Anthony Collymore and 30-year-old Vance Wilson attacked John after jumping out of a car with another man inside named Rayshaun Bugg. After John ran, Anthony and Vance chased and then shot him just feet from his front door. All three men are serving prison sentences for the crime after investigation revealed their identities over a year after the murder. The men were sentenced in May of 2013.
