Case Profiles #50

Errol Whyte

Errol “Sim” Whyte, born in Jamaica, was the fifth of eleven children and grew up as a natural born father figure and leader to his siblings and those who knew him. A reputable jewelry maker, Errol changed careers upon immigrating to the United States, working in construction and landscaping as he built a life for his family and loved ones in Connecticut. On December 29th, 2022, Errol was seen leaving his son’s Bridgeport, Connecticut home, only to never be seen alive again. His car was found several days later, abandoned on I-95 southbound, containing his two cellphones, a wallet and money bag both empty of money, and missing an ID. Unfortunately, Errol’s body was found in April of 2023 in an office park retention pond. Autopsy revealed he had been in the water for quite some time, ruling his death as an accidental drowning. However, the suspicious nature of the contents of his car and how it was left made loved ones question if it was really an accident.

Patricia Santos

36-year-old Patricia Santos of Worcester, Massachusetts was last seen on May 20th, 2009. She wasn’t reported missing until two days later on May 22nd when she didn’t show up to work at Maranda's House, a transitional women's recovery program. Nine days before she was last seen, Patricia had gotten a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, 48-year-old Albert F. Carabba. The restraining order was set to expire on May 22nd, the same day Patricia was reported missing. Patricia’s current boyfriend had seen Albert Carabba driving Patricia’s car, a 2000 Ford Mustang, on May 22nd. The current boyfriend actually spoke to Albert about this, and Albert said that Patricia had loaned him the car. The current boyfriend immediately called police, who issued a bulletin for the car. The next day, police located Albert driving the car and began to pull him over. Albert then started a high speed police chase, going at some points over 100mph, eventually crashing the car and running from the scene into the woods. After hours of searching, police found him and arrested him on outstanding charges, later being charged for theft of multiple items from Patricia’s home, theft of her other vehicle and for violation of the restraining order. Blankets and other items were found in the Mustang, indicating that Albert had been living in it. When questioned by police, Albert said that he saw Patricia on Pleasant Street on May 20th, and he said she told him that she had relapsed on drugs and planned to go to Florida. He then claims that because she was going to Florida she didn’t need her car, so she left it to him. Her friends and family dispute this as Patricia was two years sober and had no plans to go to Florida. Her family in Florida had not heard from her, and her mother and brother who both lived in Worcester have not heard from her either. There have been no further leads or arrests in the case, and no activity on Patricia’s phone or bank accounts. At the time of her disappearance Patricia was 36-years-old, weighed about 120-130lbs and was 4’11. Patricia is Hispanic with brown hair and eyes, several scars on her arms and legs and a tattoo on her left breast. Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Patricia Santos is asked to please call the Worcester Police Department at 508-799-8651.
