Case Profiles #15

Awilda Marrero

On April 5th, 2009, 43-year-old Awilda Marrero was last seen by her daughter, 17-year-old Angelica Carmora, at 11:30pm. When Angelica woke up, her mom wasn’t home and there were no signs of forced entry. Awilda had walked out into the rain and left her home at 16 Asnuntuck Street in Enfield, Connecticut without her phone, purse, or shoes. She was just five days away from being a grandmother for the second time, and Angelica feels as though her mother was not suicidal. Police searched the Connecticut River and canines picked up Awilda’s scent near a boat launch she frequented to go fishing, but they found no other leads. The night before she went missing Awilda told Angelica’s boyfriend that if anything happened to her to “take care of my daughter”. At the time of her disappearance Awilda Marrero was just over 5 feet tall, weighed 165 pounds and had brown hair and brown eyes. She has a scar on her upper right arm and “Joel” tattooed on her right thigh.  Awilda had depression and bipolar disorder and is considered an endangered missing person. Anyone with any information on her disappearance is asked to please contact the Enfield Police Department at (860) 763-8935.
