Case Profiles #56

Bianca Rosado

On July 1st of 2009, gunshots rang out in the New Bedford, Massachusetts neighborhood of Collins Street at around 10:30pm. Neighbors left their houses to discover a sad scene unfolding; 18-year-old recent high school graduate and young mom Bianca Rosado had been shot in the street, and was laying on the ground, bleeding to death. Her boyfriend, 17-year-old Victor Camacho, had been shot in the leg and was screaming for help as his girlfriend lay dying. Unfortunately, by the time paramedics arrived, Bianca had died from her injuries. Victor informed police that Bianca had come to this location for a pre-arranged fight with another girl, the girlfriend of 17-year-old Erick Cournoyer. When they arrived, Erick appeared out of a neighbor’s yard and began firing a semiautomatic gun before running off. Erick was arrested the next day thanks to Victor’s eyewitness testimony, and was charged with Bianca’s murder. It took five years, but in September of 2014, Erick was charged with second-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole in 15 years.

Luis Acevedo and Andrew Robinson

Two best friends, 24-year-old Luis Acevedo and 29-year-old Andrew Robinson, lived together in an apartment on 4 North Ashland Street in Worcester, Massachusetts. Luis was a father of two who grew up in Worcester, and this is where he met Andrew, a father of seven. The two loved to play chess and watch CNN for hours on end, and they loved to have conversations about politics. There were piles of pictures of their families and friends in their shared apartment once they moved in together, and Andrew loved watching the History Channel. On October 31st, at about 9:45pm, the buzzers for all nine of the apartments at 4 North Ashland Street were rang frantically. A neighbor on the first floor went to the door and saw two young black males who forced their way inside and ran up to the third floor. On their way up, one of the men said to the neighbor “We’re here to see our boys upstairs.” The men burst into Luis and Andrew’s third floor apartment, kicking the door down and firing multiple rounds inside. They fatally shot both men multiple times, and both men were hit in the chest. Anyone with any information about the murders of Luis Acevedo and Andrew Robinson is asked to please call the Worcester Police Detective Bureau at 508-799-8651.
