Case Profiles #35
Joaquim Perry
On October 4th, 1975, 21-year-old Joaquim Perry, nicknamed Jack, went missing. He was last seen leaving his home in New Bedford, Massachusetts where he lived with his wife Laura. Fifteen days later on October 19th, 1975, Joaquim’s body was found by a teenager riding their bike in a gravel pit near New Plainville Road behind the New Bedford Airport. Joaquim was badly beaten and police determined that he had been assaulted with a baseball bat or a club-like object before being dragged into the woods where his body was eventually found. District Attorney Thomas Quinn had announced in 2020 that Joaquim's case was now officially part of the newly formed Cold Case Unit, and that the unit is reviewing every piece of evidence from every homicide over the last 45 years. Anyone with any information on the murder of Joaquim “Jack” Perry is asked to please call the Massachusetts State Police Unresolved Cases Unit Tip line at 855-MA-SOLVE (855-627-6583).
