Case Profiles #52

Darrell Jenkins Jr.

On June 4th, 2014, Juanita Batchelor and her family were mourning the loss of her grandmother to cancer. Making arrangements for the funeral services at her Springfield, Massachusetts home, her family had all gathered to come together and mourn. This included her 23-year-old son Darrell Jenkins Jr., who was also going to be a pallbearer. Darrell was outside talking with some of his cousins, when suddenly a hail of gunfire rang out, with one hitting Darrell directly in the head. Unfortunately, Darrell died of his gunshot wound. A woman standing next to him was also shot in the mouth, but survived. The police were quick to jump to gang violence as an answer, and alerted the public to not panic. However, no arrests have been made in the murder of Darrell Jenkins Jr., and his killer remains at large. Those with any information are urged to please call the Detective Bureau at (413) 787-6355. Those who wish to remain anonymous may text a tip by addressing a text message to “CRIMES,” or “274637,” and then begin the body of the message with the word “SOLVE.”

Frederick Richardson Sr.

69-year-old Frederick Richardson Sr. was last seen on May 8th, 2016, possibly in the early morning hours of May 9th, leaving a friend’s house in Stamford, Connecticut. Police issued a Silver Alert on May 10th when Frederick never made it home. Frederick’s vehicle, a four door blue 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was found abandoned on Interstate 95 North on the Stamford-Darien border, between exits 9 and 10. Inside of the car were the keys, his cellphone, his wallet, still with his ID and credit cards, as well as his groceries. Frederick’s sister, Patricia Richardson-Wooten, stated “Everything was there but him.” These details are eerily similar to the details of the mysterious death of Errol Whyte, whose car full of his belongings was also found abandoned on a part of Interstate 95 in Fairfield County, Connecticut, but police feel both cases are not related. Frederick has not been seen or heard from since. His son, 37-year-old Frederick Richardson Jr., was a tireless advocate for answers for his dad’s whereabouts and put up missing persons posters all over town. Devastatingly, on August 17th, 2016, Frederick Jr. was sitting in a parked car on Noble Avenue, outside of the home he shared with his father, when he was fatally shot in a drive by.

At the time of his disappearance, Frederick was 69-years-old, 5’7” and 220 pounds. He is a black male with greying hair. Anyone with any information on the disappearance of Frederick Richardson Sr. is asked to please call Detective Kenneth McKenna at 203-581-5245 or call the anonymous tips line at 203-576-TIPS.
