Case Profiles #40

Sultan Rashed

On November 9th, 2015, 35-year-old Sultan Rashed was found dead in his car at an autobody shop in Brattleboro, Vermont. He had a single gunshot wound to his right eye. Surveillance footage and interviews revealed that a client of his had racked up a debt of $10k with purchasing cocaine and did not want to pay it back, so he took matters into his own hands. 39-year-old Leonard Moffat was arrested and charged with killing the loving family man, and eventually pled guilty to manslaughter, being sentenced to 8 to 25 years in prison.

Henry Fermino

On May 19th, 2021, 61-year-old Henry Fermino was reported missing when his son told his aunt, Henry’s sister, that he hadn’t heard from him all day. It was his birthday and it was out of the ordinary for Henry to not call or speak to his son. Henry’s last known location was the Capri Motel in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, where he had checked in on May 8th. He never checked out. He was last seen the next day on May 9th by a housekeeper, who reported seeing him with another male. This male has never come forward. At the beginning of the investigation, police were unable to locate Henry’s phone, as they were hoping to ping its location. Hotel records showed that no personal items were left behind in the room, but a week later this changed. Someone had turned in Henry’s phone to the front desk, saying they found it inside of the hotel room. Detectives were able to ping the cell phone to a wooded area between Cross Road and Reed Road in Dartmouth. On July 7th, members of the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (SEMLEC) Search and Rescue Unit conducted a large-scale search for Henry in the wooded area after police determined that Henry was likely out there on May 11th. No further evidence has been found. Henry is an African American man and at the time of his disappearance was 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighed 155 to 165 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. Anyone with any information about the whereabouts of Henry Fermino is asked to please call Massachusetts State Police Lt. Ann Marie Robertson at 508-961-1918. You can also call the New Bedford Police Department at 508-991-6300 or the Dartmouth Police Department at 508-910-1700.
