Case Profiles #45

Sherell Pringle

On December 19th, 2021, 40-year-old Sherell Pringle was reported missing by her son after she didn’t return to her Woburn, Massachusetts home that night. She was last seen leaving to go on a date with her boyfriend, 44-year-old Bruce Maiben, the night before.  Sherell’s son, 19-year-old Jahmani Larionne, stated "Everything ties back to (this): he was the last person with her. If you're the last person with somebody that's missing, you should be the first one to help, the first one to the police, the first with everything, but this guy don't want to be in contact with nobody. That's a sign right there." Sherell’s family and friends led their own search for her and were able to track her phone were to a catch basin on the side of the road. They soon found Sherell’s purse. Her body was found by her family and friends near where her purse was found on December 21st, in the Rumney Marsh Reservation off of Route 107 in Saugus, Massachusetts. Her death was ruled as suspicious and the Essex County District Attorney's office said that they suspected foul play. Bruce Maiben was arrested on December 23rd on charges of larceny over $1,200 tampering with evidence and obstruction of justice and was officially charged with Sherell’s murder a month later. A Lynn District Court judge entered a plea of not guilty on Bruce’s behalf. A not guilty plea was submitted for Bruce when he was arrested and initially charged with larceny, evidence tampering and obstruction of justice as well. This case is still ongoing.

Sherell Michelle Pringle was an ambitious woman who got her associates degree in business and then her Bachelor’s at Umass Boston with a focus in Fashion Design. She was employed for over 10 years at the Steward Medical Group in Watertown, Massachusetts and was a hard worker. More than anything, she adored her son and loved spending time with him, their family and their dog. Her family said that she loved shopping, traveling, taking pictures and that she enjoyed life. They described her as a natural born leader. In her obituary her family wrote that Sherell “always kept her foot on the gas and never let up, a true leader. She was an amazing mother. Always pushing her son to do more and to do better. Always made sure she was the foundational support for Jahmani. They had and will always have an unbreakable bond.”
