Case Profiles #17

Ralph Jean Marie

On April 13, 2020, 38-year-old Ralph Jean-Marie walked away from the motel he was staying at in Barre, Vermont at 1:00am. Ralph, nicknamed “Rizz” was staying at the Hollow Inn with his girlfriend and they had allegedly gotten into a fight. Ralph stepped outside to get some air and was never seen again. Later that same day at 2:00pm, a call was placed to Ralph’s medical provider to refill a prescription, however Ralph had left behind his cell phone, wallet, glasses, ID and necessary medications and it is unknown who made this call. Ralph was missing for 68 hours before his friends filed a report with police. Police conducted dozens of interviews, over 30 searches and got more than 17 court orders, and they used sonar technology to search Vermont quarries for any sign of Ralph. There have been multiple protests and demonstrations in support of Ralph and out of frustration with the lack of initial police response. Ralph was living at the motel that he payed for using a state voucher, and it’s believed that Ralph being a Black lower income man prevented more action. At the time of his disappearance he was 5’10”, weighed about 140 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing gray pajama pants, a gray Carhartt jacket, Adidas shoes, and a hat with the word “King” on it. Anyone with any information on the disappearance of Ralph Jean Marie is asked to please call the Barre City Police at (802) 476-6613.
