Episode 108: Anthony Lord
On July 16th, 2015, 35-year-old Anthony Lord went on an 18 hour crime spree throughout the Aroostook and Penobscot Counties of northern Maine. The rampage started after his former girlfriend called the state police and reported that Anthony had kidnapped her and raped her several times the day before. He threatened her if she went to police.
He started out by going to the home of the mother of his ex-girlfriend, 22-year-old Brittany Irish, in Benedicta, Maine. Anthony proceeded to light the barn on the property on fire. From here, Anthony disappeared for several hours, eventually showing up at the home of a friend’s uncle, where he attacked him and then stole two guns and a pickup truck.
Now early in the morning of July 17th, Anthony drove back to the home he previously committed arson at, and located his ex-girlfriend, Brittany. Anthony shot and killed her boyfriend, 22-year-old Kyle Hewitt. Anthony also managed to shoot Brittany’s mom, injuring her in the arm, before hunting down Brittany, who had jumped into the bed of a passing truck in an attempt to escape. Anthony shot the driver of the truck, who survived.
Anthony kidnapped Brittany once more, bringing her to a woodlot in Lee, Maine. Here, he shot and killed one man, 58-year-old Kevin Tozier, and injured another man, who survived. From this point, Anthony went to his uncle’s home where he was eventually arrested.
In June of 2017, Anthony Lord was sentenced to two concurrent life sentences. He is currently serving that sentence at the Maine State Prison in Warren, Maine.
